Ok, I myself have been looking around quite a bit for info on taking apart the dash on an 03' civic coupe and found some little tips and stuff which
allowed me enough information to get the whole thing apart, here is a step by step guide.
Here is the center panel area, the first thing you need to put your attention on is the shifter, there is a little panel surrounding the silvery
shifter console and that can be easily pulled right out, so do that.
The next step is to take off the panel that surrounded the panel you just took off. This panel is pretty hard to take out, but make sure you don’t
pull so hard as to not control your force, or you might bend a section off. So do that and this is what it should look like.
After that, there is the horseshoe-like panel that goes around the side of the shifter, all you have to do here is take off those two screws shown in
the picture and pull the rest out, now the cig lighter and its console come out right with it so don’t try to separate the two. here are some
pics.
Just disconnect the cig lighter with the push in plug and put the panel aside.
Here it is without the panel.
It gets a bit tricky here, there are two screws on the underside of the deck that need to be taken out, but space is to limited for a conventional
screw driver, so get a small ratchet tool and take those puppies out.
Here is the tool i used.
Next place your hand on the metal plate facing the plate you just took screws out of, they are touching together. Push really hard and a couple pops
later out comes your center console.
Here it is.
Hope that helped you fellas out.

I recently removed my dash/radio unit as well as the center console housing the shifter and I agree with some of the instuction from Zeroxxx,
However....I STRONGLY DISAGREE with other points.
I should first say that I have a 4dr 2003 civic w/ AT and I do not have that little door that covers over the drink holders.
I found 2 DIY's on 7thgencivic.com under radio/audio and interior removal that were quite helpful. Here are the points that I disagree with:
RADIO REMOVAL:
-I did not have to remove the center console to get he dash out.
-I just had to pull the piece out that houses the lighter and that little storage area, no screws just place a thumb in the lighter and fingers in the
storage area and PULL.
-Then follow Zeroxxx's instructions
CONSOLE REMOVAL
If I removed my shifter surround like Zeroxxx, I would have broken some/all pieces. My 2003 civic is NOT put together that way. Here's how to do
this:
-There are 2 little pins (one on each side) holding the console in, up by the front, in the foot wells, PUSH the small circle area IN to remove these.
-Then move your seats all the way forward and locate the 2 screws (one on each side) at the back and remove these.
-remove the E-brake surround by pulling straight up on it (no screws)
-after you remove this piece, you will notice 2 screws holding the rest of the console in, remove thes 2 screws and the console will lift right
out.
-*****when you turn it over you will notice some screws holding the shifter surround in, take em out to remove the piece.*******
Zeroxxx - I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I just wanted to stop anybody from just trying to pull out certain pieces without first
unscrewing them, maybe your 2003 civic is set up like that, and maybe whoever needs help has the same, but my civic certainly is not and neither was
the one pictured in the DIY on 7thgencivic. I know that if I had tried to remove that piece that way... and it got broken... and I found screws
holding it in...I'd be really upset.
I hope this helps anyone who has a 2003 civic like mine.

Thank you grizzzzlies for pointing out the fact that the coupes and the four door 03 civics are setup differently, but i will again say that my
tutorial is based on an 03 civic coupe. I took a picture of the bottom side of the shifter panel that im assuming your talking about and you can see
that it is all push pins and there are no screw holes. It literally just pops out. The reason i did it the longer way was because i originally had a
bit of trouble getting out the cig lighter console and having out the horseshoe console provides a little more breathing room when dealing with those
two underside screws, (which i think is the most difficult part of this operation). Thanks for clearing up any questions people with a 4 door might
have. Here is the underside of that panel in question for a 03' civic coupe.
-this is the panel in question right??

Its interesting that the coupe and sedan consoles would come apart differently when the look so much alike. Its a good thing the DIY I followed on
7thgencivic.com was from a sedan and not a coupe. (It doesn't say either)
Great, now other 2003 civic owners have the "heads up" on removing these components properly, whether they have a coupe or a sedan.

I have a '03 Sedan that opens up like the coupe. It all depends on whether you have the solid horseshoe shaped piece or not. Oh, a word of warning
to anyone with a console like this, those plastic pieces are very sharp. I cut myself a few times working on it. Im such an amateur. Thanks for the
info Zeroxxx!

The link to your 96-98 installation instructions don't work. I want to know what panels i need to remove to install a deck on a 98 DX hatch. Do the
hatchs, coupes and sedans have the exact same interior?
thanks

The 96-98's all have the same dashes. But yeah, the 96-98 instructions are missing up top EKay Nine.
