I recently removed my dash/radio unit as well as the center console housing the shifter and I agree with some of the instuction from Zeroxxx, However....I STRONGLY DISAGREE with other points. I should first say that I have a 4dr 2003 civic w/ AT and I do not have that little door that covers over the drink holders. I found 2 DIY's on 7thgencivic.com under radio/audio and interior removal that were quite helpful. Here are the points that I disagree with: RADIO REMOVAL: -I did not have to remove the center console to get he dash out. -I just had to pull the piece out that houses the lighter and that little storage area, no screws just place a thumb in the lighter and fingers in the storage area and PULL. -Then follow Zeroxxx's instructions CONSOLE REMOVAL If I removed my shifter surround like Zeroxxx, I would have broken some/all pieces. My 2003 civic is NOT put together that way. Here's how to do this: -There are 2 little pins (one on each side) holding the console in, up by the front, in the foot wells, PUSH the small circle area IN to remove these. -Then move your seats all the way forward and locate the 2 screws (one on each side) at the back and remove these. -remove the E-brake surround by pulling straight up on it (no screws) -after you remove this piece, you will notice 2 screws holding the rest of the console in, remove thes 2 screws and the console will lift right out. -*****when you turn it over you will notice some screws holding the shifter surround in, take em out to remove the piece.******* Zeroxxx - I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I just wanted to stop anybody from just trying to pull out certain pieces without first unscrewing them, maybe your 2003 civic is set up like that, and maybe whoever needs help has the same, but my civic certainly is not and neither was the one pictured in the DIY on 7thgencivic. I know that if I had tried to remove that piece that way... and it got broken... and I found screws holding it in...I'd be really upset. I hope this helps anyone who has a 2003 civic like mine. :wavey:
